Onion Garlic Masala, Kanda Lasun Masala

This is how to make regular sabji masala at home, popularly known as kanda lasun masala or onion garlic masala or everyday masala. Lasts longer when stored in fridge.

Ingredients of Homemade Sabji Masala :

Onion - 6 nos
Garlic heads - 2 big
Dry Coconut Slices - half a coconut
Red chili ppowder - 1/2 bowl
Oil - 2 bowls
Coriander leaves, Curry leaves

Onion Garlic Masala Recipe :

  • Prepare maharashtrian kala masala as stated in the recipe.
  • Slice onion. Dry the onion slices in sunlight. Sun dry curry leaves as well.
  • Fry the sun-dried onion slices, pieces of dry coconut and the garlic cloves in oil till pinkish colour. Do not over burn.
  • Grind these fried items separately to make powder and add all those into already prepared goda masala. Mix well.
  • In another bowl, take red chili powder, add coriander leaves and the sun-dried curry leaves. 
  • Pour hot oil on this chili powder. Mix really well. Yes the same oil where onion was fried can be used in this step.
  • Now add this oil mixed red chili powder into masala made. 
  • Mix again nicely to get a proper blend of all the ingredients. 
The everyday masala is ready. It is always advisable to store the subji masala in airtight glass container, in fridge.
The onion garlic masala can be used in almost all the vegetables like sprouts, dry vegetables, gravy vegetables, stuffed vegetables and even in green leafy vegetables
